Legacy or Bequest Gifts

Leave a gift in your will and help achieve better kidney health.   Save lives by giving a gift in your will for Kidney Health New Zealand. Help future generations by funding vital research, increasing early detection, providing education and supporting those affected by kidney disease.

What's a legacy or Bequest?

A legacy is a gift left in your will, sometimes referred to as a bequest. It’s a simple way of giving that costs you nothing in your lifetime – but will benefit those left behind. Legacy gifts can be added when creating your will, or if you already have a will it can be amended, without having to be rewritten, by adding a codicil to an existing will.

Why makes a legacy / bequest gift?

A bequest or legacy is a simple and effective way to support KHNZ in its work. A legacy or bequest has no effect on your financial situation now, but it is an investment in the future of New Zealand’s kidney health.

Join our team of caring supporters who have already left a gift in their will for kidney prevention, support and research.

Here are out details you will need to include in your will:

Or download this PDF sample codicil that you can adjust to make an amendment to your existing will. Here is a codicil in word format so you can edit it yourself.  Everything should be check and lodged with your lawyer.

If you do decide to leave us a donation, give us a call and let us know.  We would like to thank you and ensure the money will be used as per your wishes.

With your help and support, we can continue our work to ensure that kidney disease is detected early, kidney patients have access to effective medical treatment, and are supported in their kidney health journey.

With or without strings attached
You may choose to leave your bequest freely, i.e. ‘no strings attached’, so that Kidney Health New Zealand can apply the funds in the areas where they are most needed, or you can specify where you would like the funds to be spent.

You can let us know about the bequest
There’s no requirement to tell us that you’re leaving a bequest to Kidney Health New Zealand. However, we would like to make sure that your generous giving is suitably thanked and acknowledged in your lifetime. It also greatly assists us with our planning. We do not need to know the details of your bequest - just that you have included us in your will.

Deciding to tell us about your bequest can also be a good thing if your Will is challenged. If we’re in a position to demonstrate that we have a relationship with you, your wishes are less likely to be amended by the court.

If you would like to let us know that you have left a bequest in your will, please send an email to jacqui@kidneys.co.nz or phone 0800 KIDNEY (0800 543 639) or write to our Planned Giving Coordinator at National Office. We will then contact you and enrol you in our Kidney Health Bequest Society. As a member you will be sent Bequest Society news from time to time and be invited to attend special events.

Strictest confidence guaranteed
Any bequest inquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence by Kidney Health New Zealand.  We will respect your wishes if you choose to remain anonymous.
